Millénaire 6.2.0 alpha 6 for MC 1.12 is out! More fixes.

Hi all,

I'm happy to be able to finally release a first alpha for Minecraft 1.12! Big thanks to MoonCutter whose dedicated testing uncovered many issues in my earlier builds.

While it is mostly playable, please do note that I'm releasing it for testing purposes only. There is a high likelihood of severe bugs, including village-killing ones. It is also possible that future releases will break compatibility with this one; until a proper release is out I will not hesitate to make compatibility-breaking changes.

Feedback here is highly welcomed and proper bug reports will speed up the release of a stable version. Happy testing!

Alpha 6 21/02/2018 update:

- Removed the loaded chunk map as it cannot work in 1.12 with its current implementation
- Fixed bug causing a blank screen when talking to the Byzantine leader
- New internal blockstate-based system to handle blocks that need to be rotated along with the building (logs, beds, staircases...)

- Moved the millenaire.log file as well as some generated files (translation gaps etc.) from millenaire/ to millenaire-custom/
- Split the plain and cross timber frame-making goals to avoid villages producing too much of one and not enough of the other
- Fixed bug causing crashes in Japanese villages with squid farms
- Fixed bug causing a crash when approaching the anomaly one in the Norman Creation Quest
- Fixed display of Mayan Quest Crown
- Fixed the production of boudin and tripes. Bovine and porcine farms will also now buy raw meat.
- A lot more rework and code cleanup

Alpha 5 18/02/2018 update:
- millenaire/ and millenaire-custom/ directories are now auto-expended in the mods/ folder, to make installation easier and be compatible with Twitch. Thanks to Voltaire for pushing me into this!
- Anonymous sending of statistics (version, language...) to millenaire.org. Can be disabled in a new setting
- Merged client & server releases
- Yggdrasil, Vishnu and Alchemist amulets now render properly. Note: you might get a missing item error for "Yddrasil". Ignore it, I renamed the item.
- More cleanup, documentation and rework


Alpha 4 17/02/2018 update:
- Villagers now have an "Attacking <target>" line above their head when targeting something
- Fixed bug where villagers attacking a mob or player would not move to attack it

- Fixed bug where villagers trying to gather goods lying around would get stuck
- Fixed bug where the item held in a villager's off hand would not clear once a goal was completed
- Fixed bug where items given in quests also floated on the ground
- Fixed bug where the blocks held by a villager building could appear as a missing texture
- Fixed animal breeding by villagers
- Fixed villagers not looking at goals properly
- More rework: removed legacy support for text files, added blockstate-based building block definitions


Alpha 3 16/02/2018 update:
- Fixed crashes when hadling packets in MP
- Fixed delays in Trade UI update in SP
- Fixed trade UI not working in MP
- Fixed rendering problem with blue Japanese armour
- Fixed villagers' weapon strength not being applied to their attack ratings
- Fixed gravel paths having wrong particles
- Fixed the Mayan Quest Crown's rendering and name
- Fixed an old 1.7 bug where the market sign did not show the maximum number of merchants properly
- Fixed an old 1.7 bug where animals could spawn in farms without limits
- Fixed bug where the village scroll generated in controlled villages would not work
- Fixed the panels in the village showing the resources needed for a project being blank sometimes
- Fixed bug in Cacao planting goal
- Fixed errors in log linked to render of locked chests and panels
- Fixed bug stopping the Village Scroll from appearing in controlled villages
- Fixed the packaging of the millenaire-hd texture pack
- Removed locked chests from the creative inventory
- Villagers can no longer be leashed
- Added back the alchemist's explosive for the Norman creation quest
- Refactoring, code clean-up and documentation

Alpha 2 14/02/2018 update:

- Villagers now hold appropriate items in their second hands
- Fixed many more minor bugs
- One critical bug fixed on the server, but there seems to be others




Main know limitations of the alpha:
- Achievements are gone, advancements will replace them in a future release
- The alchemist, Vishnu and Yggdrasil amulets are not yet implemented
- Custom player villages have not been tested
- Creation quest chapters have not been tested
- Hiring villagers has not been tested
- Only French and English languages are supported (the others need a small update to be compatible again)

Feature changes:
- Lumbermen now replant saplings respecting tree type
- Indian villages now use acacia wood in all constructions
- Millénaire crops, mud bricks and silk blocks all mature more smoothly
- The brick mould now lasts longer and produces four bricks from one dirt and one sand
- Village scrolls have the name of the corresponding village in their item name
- Villagers are now more efficient at planting and gathering crops and at laying and gathering mud bricks
- The HD textures are now a separate resource pack instead of an in-game option

Know bugs:
- Villagers have occasional pathing issues that cause them to teleport even when not required
- Water blocks set by villagers do not flow
- Tapestries and sculptures don't work
- Viewing the chunk map occasionally crashes the game
- The Trade UI updates a little slowly
- Villagers are often not looking toward their current goal

I'm running into an error when I click on he chunk map.
I don't know how to get the crash report anymore.

I get a brief view of the map just before it crashes.

I also have Xaeros world, Xaeros minimap, mo creatures, and harvestcraft.

I don't know if the other mods are interfering. Just bringing it up in case other's haven't seen it yet

It's in the list of known bugs in the OP :)

Otherwise, I would like to ask people testing not to hesitate to report here even if you don't find any new bugs. "I got a Norman village to develop with X buildings coming up with no apparent problems" is useful feedback as well!

I'd be particularly interested in feedback on raids, hired villagers, creation quests and custom villages. Thanks.

Since yesterday i try to create a list of bugs for You. At this moment got norman agricole village and everything looks fine. I will try build and upgrade all kinds of villages and testing diplomatic mechanics, trading etc.

Hello,

I'm indescribably stoked to have Millénaire back again. Possible bug here, but just as likely that i've forgotten how to use forge servers.

I'm trying to set up a forge server, using either recommended version (2611) or latest (2616). No other mods installed. While the starting area is creating (and it gives the multiple console messages with incremental percentages) the server terminates on a error. I've attached a crash report.

I hope that this is either useful, or a simple config mistake on my part!

Trying out the alpha atm, and I've noticed that sometimes (at least in Norman villages) there can be multiple builders working on the same construction project. While the job does get done twice as fast, I don't think it's supposed to do that :lol: .

Oh, rats :P I left that activated.

It's a new feature that's not ready yet and isn't intended for most villages. I'll disable it for now.

No other mods, pretty much a fresh server, not even changed anything in server.properties (i customised it at first, but regenerated a fresh server.properties to see if i'd done something there to break it). I didn't spot that report in Discord, that's someone else. Please let me know if I can try anything, or give any more info.

Hello! This has been my favorite Minecraft mod for several years but I've never posted here before. Obviously I'm extremely happy to have this new version :) I've been playing with the alpha for a couple days (no other mods; most recent Forge) and here's what I've noticed:

- It generated a Byzantine religious town near my spawn and everything is mostly running smoothly. Villagers build new structures as I trade them the resources, sheep are sheared and quarries mined, and children are born (I forgot how cute and tiny they are!) Every time I see a monster attacking the villagers and run over to help, they kill it before I even reach them.
- Occasionally approaching the village center, when the wife comes to trade with me, infinite "I'll be right there!" messages are generated instead of one, and she seems to get stuck somewhere. Approaching another trading location such as the sheep farm (happened to be the wife in question's home) and trading with her there seemed to get her un-stuck.
- Right-clicking the Patriarch either has no effect or brings up a blank parchment; whichever condition, it persists until I reload the game. He doesn't speak even to say anything about my reputation.
- Just had the game crash when I was trying to exit a trade screen from one of the wives & pressed Esc, as I had browsed but had nothing to trade that time. I'll upload the crash report.
- Several times villagers teleport, or become invisible en masse for several seconds. Occasionally the architect will place blocks while invisible. One time I saw a foreign trader "keeping his stall"... from behind the back of the Basilike, his body horizontal and half-clipping through the ground. YOLO, I guess?

i can't seem to get my v and m keys working, not sure if it's a bug but i'm also not encountering anything related to millenaire

i have 25 mods installed and no key conflicts

edit: even with only millenaire i get nothing
edit2: i found the issue, the millenaire folder is in a subdirectory of the millenaire folder.... it's a packaging error

I'm not sure if this is a bug but the first building that generated in my new world was the Alchemists tower (first meaning I haven't found a village yet)

I'm playing millenaire-6.2.0-alpha.2 and the only other mods i'm using is journeymap and leafdecay

No new alpha tonight, but I did fix that MP issue, you can stop reporting it :) the trade UI is broken in MP though and I want to fix that before I do another release.

Anyone had a go at the creation quests?

I'm looking at that bug, the issue actually seems to be that the animal spawning code doesn't stop when the maximum amount of animals is reached. Thanks.

Bug list for alpha 3:

Animal herders can't breed animals but consumes food items (carrots for swineherders)
Builders can break some structures with path blocks (see the screenshot)
Strange signs placement for military fort (see the screenshot)
Hired lumberjack forgets that they were hired and goes chopping

I just wanted to report in Alpha 3 that when I went to a village every time a villager came close they disappeared until I couldn't interact with anyone. Also I did get chat messages.

Is the Norman Agricultural village supposed to build the town center for the military village. And if so, is it supposed to do it twice?

No, that sounds like a major bug. I have not seen anything similar. Anything in your logs? Can I have a screenshot of the village with the three town centres? Thanks.

Small question : Is it possible to tweak the mod to make villagers behave with items from another mods ? For example, making farms with seeds from other mods.

If yes, I would gladly combine Millénaire with some other food mods to make a large suggestion post on what to add.

Ok, figured that one out (too late for alpha 5). I'm afraid trying to use tapestries in MP will crash until the next release. Anyway they don't show even in SP, one of the main bugs on my list.

Looks annoying. What blocks does she replace? Normally paths should only be set over "natural" blocks like grass, not planks.

Thanks for upgrading the mod! I can translate some new text into Chinese from English. If you need any Chinese translations, just ask me (if you can kindly tell me how can I sent you back my translated works).

Also I want to report something(ver 6.0.2 for 1.7.10): when villagers talking, and their dialogues are too long to fully shown in one line, any dialogue that proceeded in the next line will become white, while anything in the first line will be colored (red or green) instead of white. Is this a bug or is this fixable in the new 1.12 compatible version?

Keep in mind anyone using Alpha versions of Millenaire, "The One Probe" conflicts with it.

Also "Animania" animals aren't spawned with Minllenaire buildings. Animania overwrites vanilla animals.

Nothing appears to change. Surface planks appear OK and it's only stone below the surface. I don't even see any voids in the 15m or so that I dug down.

There's already a Chinese translation, but it's not complete (both simplified and traditional actually). MP if you want to participate.

It was a bug in 1.7, it's actually fixed in 1.12 though no work of my own.

Comes into the house several times per game day. It's just odd :)

Ok now I have the alpha5 installed and here's what I found:
When talking with the guy who sell things to me in a village, the GUI appears, and in that GUI I can't move, select or pick up anything from my bag, but selling or buying things are good. This(unable to move or select) will also happens when I interact with a locked chest
Also when I talk to this guy(pic here:
